FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Thank you for taking the time to visit Westside Christian Church on the web.

Whether you are just checking out this "church thing", just starting to ask spiritual questions, or you are a committed Christ-follower, you are welcome here. Westside is a place you can belong. We've answered some questions below in hopes that it will help you get to know us a little bit better.

What can I expect on my first visit?

As soon as you arrive, you'll be made to feel at home. When you arrive there will be someone to greet you who will be ready to welcome you and give directions or answer any questions you may have. If you have children, you can check them in to their age-based classes. (See below for more information on children's classes.) You will also want to make sure you stop at our hospitality table and get some free coffee and doughnuts. As you enter the auditorium you will be handed an information-filled worship guide. Then, sit back, relax, and enjoy the service! Our services are designed to help each person make a personal connection with God. Our typical weekend gathering will include several music numbers, a time of communion, and a 30-minute relevant message. The entire service usually runs 70 minutes. Don't forget your free "fruit of the vine" gift after the service, prepared especially for all first-time visitors!

What should I wear to the service?

Casual dress is the norm. Don’t make any special arrangements— we want you to come just as you are.

Do I need to bring a Bible?

At Westside, we encourage you to bring a Bible and a pen to dig into the teaching with us. We will be reading from the New International Version (NIV) for our Sunday Worship services, but any version will work. If you don't have a Bible, that's okay, we've got plenty and you're welcome to take one home with you!

What about my kids?

Your kids matter to God, so they matter to us too! That's why we will have a safe, creative, age-appropriate ministry, that includes music, activities, and a lesson from the Bible. Our children's ministry is for infants through 6th grade, and it meets concurrently with each adult service. We also have a ministry for teen students which meets on Sunday nights. We ask all parents to safely check their children in and out of our ministry area to ensure the security of all our precious kids. Copies of our Children's Ministry Guidelines are available at the check-in table.

Will I be asked to give money?

As a guest, you will not be expected to participate in the giving portion of our service. However, if Westside is your church home, then we ask you to be faithful to God in your giving and partner with us in accomplishing His work and His will here in North Oklahoma City by reaching the lost, the hurt, the seeking and the disconnected.

Will I be singled out as a first time visitor?

As our guest, you will not be asked to announce yourself or differentiate yourself in any way. We value your right to anonymity and our hope is that you will just come, enjoy the service, and be able to apply the teaching to your life. You will have an opportunity to complete a first-time visitor card with as much or as little information as you'd like to provide. This is completely optional and we only ask this so that we can send an information packet your way.

What denomination is Westside? What do you believe?

Westside is not affiliated with any denomination. We teach Christianity based solely on the Bible. We believe the Bible is the infallible word of God and it is our standard for all we do. "Where the Bible speaks, we speak. Where it is silent, we are silent." That means we will take a stand where the Bible takes a stand, but we encourage personal opinions, grace and liberty within the scope of God's Word. Click here to see our Statement of Faith.

What style of music will you be playing?

Our music is a spiritual blend of selections with traditional accompaniment. Our song services are intended as a time of personal closeness with, and worship of, our Father in Heaven. Everyone worships differently and again we encourage personal liberty within the scope of God's Word.
